Retaliation after Robin had the temerity to take my request seriously. |
I have jettisoned off a few non-performers, sold a couple of beloved, but unneeded stallions, and have started a critical analysis of about a dozen other horses who are on the bubble, talent-wise. At least six of them will have to get pink slips to get me where I need to be.
So why in the heck do I keep buying horses?!?
Recently I purchased the 2yo colt Retreat and 3yo filly Lake Excessive from Endless Vista. Today I negotiated a deal with my friend Lise over at Eureka to acquire 3yo colt Qi (Union Jack x Flow Diagram).
The upshot is that these purchases are undoing all of the good work I've done so far with regard to opening stalls for upcoming foals. It's not that I regret them. I am especially happy with the Qi acquisition, but I do need to rein myself in.
Cold turkey baby! No more purchases this year. Those of you to whom I have sent offers that you have not acknowledged... consider them null and void.

I would not stop buying horses. Just look to keep improving your stable with each deal. If you can find something better than what you currently have, why not buy it?
The simple solution is to get a few extra stalls... Have your cake and eat it 2 ;)
Haha... don't think the stall thing hasn't crossed my mind a dozen times Steven. Truthfully though, with everything else I've got going, I question my ability to run a stable with more stock than I have now. I have no idea how you mega-stall guys do it!
Yeah, I do agree with you Chris. A guy can't go wrong if he continues to upgrade his stock. My problem though is being able to let go of the horses being replaced...
Its pretty easy at the moment jim I think I have around 65 racers on my books but about 28 of those are 2yr olds and out of those im probably only racing a handful the rest I have given them a start to see whats going on but most of them wont peak until next season....
I plan for the top say 12-15 horses in my stable which are mainly 3yr olds the rest I just find a race the week there fresh enough to run so its pretty easy really though this will be tested in the coming seasons when I get my racing string up to around 100-120 I can imagine I will have do have multiple entries in a lot races something I very rarely do/have done I prefer to spilt my horses up as id rather give every horse a chance to win without racing stable-mates.... And chris its so hard for me not to buy horses ive been buying stalls meant for my large incoming crop of foals but have been using all of them up buying horses but im at the point jim is and have to cease buying unless something major comes up as I really need stalls for my foals
