Race Results for Weeks 15 & 16

Finally. A week to make us proud. We sent three runners to post and came home with two wins.

It has been a tough year for Otsego Farms. With just 2 wins in our first 33 races, we were starting to scramble for reasons for our ineptitude, or in lieu of reasons, excuses.

Stable stalwart Union Jack ran a flawless race to win the San Juan Capistrano Handicap. Carrying a race-high 126 lbs, Jack cruised to a 2-length victory over Spartan's limping Retribution. The win was the 13th of Union Jack's career.

Veteran racer 6yo Doomsday, virtually resurrected off the scrap-pile after a horrendous 4yo campaign, continued to defy Father Time with a strong win in the San Simeon Handicap. Doomsday and Olmo Dorato's Mr Purler dueled for the first 4 furlongs, before he pulled away to win easily by 4 1/2 lengths.

Newcomer True Ensign finished 3rd in the San Bernadino Handicap. He was the even-money favorite, but saddled with 127 lbs, just didn't have the kick in the stretch to contend for the win.

The two victories did wonders for the psyche of owner Jim Webber, who jetted off to Las Vegas to celebrate shortly after Union Jack's victory at Santa Anita Park.
